À propos de jimetta Rose Mixed By The Scientist

Los Angeles native, Jimetta Rose has become a mainstay in the Los Angeles independent music scene while simultaneously digging firm roots into LA’s burgeoning creative renaissance. Jimetta Rose’s music is not constrained by a rigid expectation of what art is or isn't; she draws inspiration from jazz, R&B and Hip-Hop. She’s even been known to spit a verse or two when prodded.

One word that embodies Jimetta's complex and mesmerizing sound is: SOUL. All aspects of her music from the unforgettable vocals, to the powerful lyrics, which range from enchanting to haunting and everything in between meshing into an autobiographical testament to love's healing power. She truly bares her soul and shares her vulnerability as well as her strength. Her songs, her life, her art are a cumulative love letter, an autobiographical testament to life itself.

In January 2010, Jimetta released her debut solo album “The Barber's Daughter” independently. Laced with introspective prose, velvety vocal punches, and exceptional production from some of Los Angeles’ most revered underground producers, her highly-anticipated solo debut is an impressive showcase of her talent as a singer/songwriter, poet, and thinker.

With her talent, style, and dedication to unfiltered creative expression, it should come as no surprise that Jimetta Rose counts among her friends and colleagues, many of the most popular artists and Dj’s in the Los Angeles music scene and abroad, which include Miguel Atwood Ferguson, Med and Blu, The Decoders, Alice Russell, Talib Kweli, Meshell N’Dgeocello, Erykah Badu, Joi Gilliam, Shuggie Otis, Zap Mama, Seu George, Shafiq Husayn, Dj House Shoes, Dj Rhettmatic, Bilal, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, and many more.

In 2013, Jimetta was honored with the opportunity to cover Minnie Riperton's classic tune "Reasons" with the dynamically talented band The Decoders in collaboration with producer extraordinaire Richard Rudolph. Jimetta also ventured into the musical theater realm last year when she wrote, produced, and starred in the sold-out musical stage production, “Museum of Living Art” through her theater company, Nappy Nation Theater Group. Now, she is finishing her second solo album, “The Light Bearer”, which is executive produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow, and is slated for an early summer release on Some Otha Ship Records. Expect that with this release, the ever-increasing rumblings about Jimetta Rose will turn into a roar.
